WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature designed to centralise group chat and community creation tools within the Chats tab in Android, providing users with a more seamless and efficient experience for starting chats, communities, and groups.
A few beta testers have started receiving the latest banners in the Communities tab, notifying them that community creation options are now available in the Chats tab, where options for the latest chats and groups already exist, according to WABetaInfo.
This feature aims to deliver a more cohesive user experience by minimising the need to navigate between sections of the app for similar features. Users will appreciate a rapid process for creating groups and communities, ensuring effortless usage.
As part of this redesign, the floating action button has been removed from the Communities tab. This update aligns with recent changes introduced in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.24.14. The redesigned Communities tab now features a cleaner interface, making it easier for users to locate and interact with existing communities.
Availability
The latest feature is currently available to a few beta testers who have installed the most recent version of WhatsApp beta for Android via the Google Play Store. WhatsApp plans to roll out this update to a wider audience in the near future.
This latest change simplifies management, streamlines usability, and emphasises WhatsApp’s unwavering commitment to a cleaner and efficient user interface.
