In times when game developers and publishers alike are spending considerable chunks of their resources to expand worldwide, the latest reports have garnered significant buzz suggesting that Xbox is looking forward to exiting from Saudi Arabia.
While the rumour has been making rounds on the internet for a longer while, the development received a nod of verification from the CEO True Gaming in a post on X (formerly Twitter) stating that Xbox is preparing to pull the plug on the distribution of its console hardware in Saudi Arabia.
Xbox to exit from Saudi Arabia
The shallow footprint of the Microsoft-owned Xbox consoles outside the US market has been the biggest concern of enthusiasts across the globe, and the recent confirmation of its retreat from a Middle Eastern country draws significant resentment, prompting gamers to question about Xbox's commitment to wider availability.
Citing sources, Windows Central reported that reports earlier this year hinted at Microsoft mulling over a pullback from the market where it struggles and focuses on countries with bigger user bases like the United States and the United Kingdom.
Xbox consoles available in Saudi Arabia
"Xbox devices are available in all current Xbox hardware-supported countries, including Saudi Arabia. Console availability may vary by country but Xbox games can be played on consoles, PCs, and on phones, tablets or TVs where Xbox Cloud Gaming is available," Xbox Chief Consumer Sales Officer Ami Silverman said.
He suggested those willing to see markets still embracing the availability of Xbox head to xbox.com/regions.
