About 12 years later, the new addition to the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA 6, is set to be released. The previous release, GTA 5, proved a massive hit and propelled Rockstar Games to become an industry heavyweight.
However, the wait for the long-anticipated sequel is the longest in the series’ history. As anticipation continues to surmount new heights, the studio and by-in-large its parent company, Take-Two, are being thronged by enthusiasts and observers alike.
To this end, Take-Two has defended its position, citing development issues. Moreover, last week in an appearance at the TD Cowen conference in New York, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick argued that content additions such as GTA Online and Read Dead Redemption are significant enough to justify the delay.

The matter arose when the panel host asked Zelnick how Rockstar would be able to release titles more frequently in the future and whether the team has its hands tied due to a lack of resources.
“It's important to bear in mind, it's not like Rockstar put out GTA 5 and then sat on their hands for 12 years, We launched GTA Online, and that's turned into this massive living, breathing ecosystem, which continues to perform and grow to this da,” Zelnich was quoted as saying.
As he admits that there is “more to be done” in the live service space, we can expect the studio to stick with its current Online offering, especially considering its adaptability to being updated.
"This isn't a situation where there was a 12-year dearth of product”, he added.
It does seem that Take-Two isn’t exactly troubled by the long wait as long as a release is in the works, especially an adaptable one.
