Xiaomi is making a big impact in the electric vehicle (EV) market. The company launched its first EV, the SU7 sedan, in March 2024, and it sharply rose to prominence.
With growing demand and new models on the way, Xiaomi is positioning itself as a strong player in the global EV market.
In just one year, Xiaomi delivered over 150,000 units, with more than 25,000 sold in December alone. This success has encouraged Xiaomi to set a bold target for 2025, delivering 300,000 SU7 electric cars.
The Xiaomi SU7 is an affordable and stylish EV that offers three versions: Standard (RMB 215,900/$29,775), Pro (RMB 245,900/$33,912), and Max (RMB 299,900/$41,360). Its competitive pricing and advanced features have attracted many buyers, leading to long waiting periods of up to 20 weeks.
Xiaomi’s founder Lei Jun recently showcased the SU7’s self-parking feature during a live event. He also introduced a limited-edition red model to celebrate Xiaomi’s 15th anniversary, set for delivery in March 2025.
Moreover, Xiaomi plans to expand its EV lineup. The high-performance SU7 Ultra, priced at RMB 814,900 ($112,385), will launch in March 2025. The company will also introduce its first electric SUV, the YU7, by mid-2025.
If the company meets its goal of selling 300,000 electric cars in 2025, it could become a major competitor to Tesla and other big automakers.
