Xiaomi is set to revolutionise the gaming industry with its forthcoming WinPlay Engine, which promises to bring Windows PC games to Android tablets.
The WinPlay Engine is poised to support Steam, granting users access to a vast library of PC games.
This cutting-edge technology is currently in the testing phase, with Xiaomi recruiting volunteer testers in China to experience its capabilities.
WinPlay tested on Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4
In a Weibo post, Xiaomi showcased the WinPlay Engine on the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, a device powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of onboard storage.
According to the tech giant, the WinPlay Engine results in a 2.9% loss in GPU performance, ensuring a seamless gaming experience.
The WinPlay Engine utilises Xiaomi's proprietary HyperCore technology, a self-developed underlying kernel technology platform introduced with the company's Android 15-based HyperOS 2 in October.
The HyperCore technology is designed to enhance performance, graphics, network, and security, providing a robust foundation for the WinPlay Engine.
It boasts an impressive array of features, including a proprietary microarchitecture scheduler that reduces CPU idle time by 19%.
This results in up to 54.9% faster app launch speeds on smartphones, achieved by optimising task cycles and memory latency.
However, it is yet to be confirmed whether other gaming platforms, such as the Epic Games Store and GOG, will also be supported by the WinPlay Engine.
