To keep up with the rival messaging platforms employing the artificial intelligence, WhatsApp too appears to be testing a new feature to let users generate AI-backed images.

A recent report published by WABetaInfo reveals that the Meta-owned instant messaging platform is conducting tests on Imagine, a new AI-driven feature to facilitate users with AI image generation.

The feature is not the only one with which WhatsApp is merging AI, as there exists a long queue of AI features, some in the initial developmental stages, while others deep in production and about to be added on WhatsApp.

To count a few of those AI features, AI-generated profile photos and stickers are the ones that have long been in the limelight, with their potential release expected in the near future.

The most recent example of the inclusion of an AI feature on WhatsApp is Meta AI, which the company introduced on all platforms — including iOS, Android and the web version — in select countries in 2023, and then worldwide almost a month ago.
