Android 16 Beta 2 has been launched with various new features and modifications to phone call settings. The company has introduced changes that will improve users’ calling experience and protect them from fraudulent scammers.
Google has rolled out a new feature in Android 16 Beta 2 called “in-call anti-scammer protection.” The feature helps users shield their privacy and confidential data from scammers when they’re busy on an important phone call.
Android 16 has got you advanced capabilities, restricting you from enabling sensitive settings like sideloading permission when a phone call is active. As a result, it will interrupt the scammer’s flow into your device and alert you to some extent. It reads:
“Scammers often request this type of action during phone call conversations. So it’s blocked to protect you. If you are being guided to take this action by someone you don’t know, it might be a scam.”
In case the scammer’s app is already available in the Google Play Store, the Android 16 upgrade will block accessibility access for it during phone calls.
Anti-scammer tools for calls will eventually decrease the number of frauds on phone calls. The feature is live in Android 16 Beta 2 and may debut with the stable release in the time ahead.
