Last year in October, Google launched Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Now, rumours about the potential release of the Pixel 8a have started to surface, suggesting a launch in May. The smartphone was expected to be a mid-range offering, but recent reports indicate that the Pixel 8a might be priced higher than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.
It is expected to be available in 128GB and 256GB storage options and could come in four different colour variants, at least in the European Union. The Pixel 8a is rumoured to be powered by a Google Tensor G3 SoC.

Gadgets360, citing Winfuture, reported that the base model of the Pixel 8a with 128GB storage could start at EUR 570 (approximately INR 51,000), while the 256GB variant being priced at EUR 630 (around INR 56,000). This represents a significant increase from the launch price of the Pixel 7a, which was EUR 499 (about INR 45,000).

The Google Pixel 7a was launched in India in May last year, priced at INR 43,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. If the rumoured price for the Pixel 8a is accurate, it would position the device against competitors such as the OnePlus 12R, Nothing Phone 2, and the Galaxy S23 FE.

The Pixel 8a is said to be available in the bay (light blue), mint (light green), obsidian (black), and porcelain (beige) colour options, although not all finishes may be offered for both storage variants.

It's speculated that Google will unveil the Pixel 8a during its I/O event in May. The device is expected to feature a 6.1-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and could be powered by Google's Tensor G3 SoC with 8GB of RAM. Additionally, it may include a 5,000mAh battery with support for 27W wired fast charging and measures 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm.
