Apple introduced a groundbreaking new lineup of AirPods models on Monday, including two new models of the AirPods 4, replacing both AirPods 2 and AirPods 3.
The new AirPods 4 are the most advanced headphones the company has ever created featuring an open ear design and two distinct models including the standard AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
AirPods 4 no longer includes USB cable
A noteworthy part here is that Apple is removing the USB-C cable from the AirPods box. Although the decision wasn’t mentioned during the “It’s Glowtime” event, the company’s official website for the new AirPods 4 includes a note stating “USB-C charge cable sold” separately for both models.”

This decision comes at the time when the company has updated the AirPods 4 charging case with a USB-C port.
Notably, Apple in 2022 stopped shipping a USB-C cable included in the Apple TV box to recharge the Siri Remote and in 2020, the company removed the power adapter from the iPhone 12 box.
Certainly, Apple assumed that users don’t have to worry as most people must already have a bunch of USB-C cables in their possession since iPhones and iPads also charge with similar cables.
Apple AirPods 4 pricing and availability
Both AirPods 4 models are available to preorder from Monday and will start to ship on Friday, September 20. The standard AirPods 4 costs $129, while the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature is available for $179.
However, the AirPods Pro 2 with new hearing health features will be available this fall in more than 100 regions globally.
