Apple is set to launch a new App Store update, using artificial intelligence (AI) to make it easier for people to find apps.

The AI-integrated version of the App Store will examine apps' information, including description, screenshots, and category, and assign tags to help categorise it. This will make apps' categorisation more visible in search results and help users discover new apps.

With the AI handling all the work, it's expected that developers won't need to include keywords in their screenshots or descriptions to affect the tags. Humans will check the tags to make sure they are correct before they go live.

For app developers, this update may prove crucial as it's expected to increase app visibility and downloads. Additionally, developers will be able to choose which tags are linked to their apps.

This update aims to make the App Store more functional and enhance the overall user experience. Apple intends to make it simpler for users to locate what they're looking for by more precisely classifying apps.

The AI-powered tags have not yet been released to the general App Store, but they are currently accessible in the iOS 26 developer beta build.

It remains to be seen how these AI-powered tags affect search rankings and app discovery once they are available.
