Rumours regarding foldable iPhone have been circulating for years without taking on a real-world shape, but a recent leak has shed light on its potential release timeline and key specifications of Apple's first-ever foldable iPhone.

According to a leak shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a reputable tipster HaYaO, Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to feature a book-style folding design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Foldable iPhone launch date

The foldable iPhone is tipped to launch as early as fall 2026, with the Cupertino-based giant reportedly planning to release a foldable iPad and MacBook in 2027.

The leaker also predicted that the company might sell 8-10 million units of the foldable iPhone in 2026, followed by 20 million units in 2027.

It was also suggested by the tipster that the company is focusing on large, book-style folding phones, rather than smaller, flip-style devices.

The foldable iPhone is also expected to measure 9.2mm in thickness when folded and 4.6mm when unfolded, making it slimmer than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

It’s worth mentioning that the screen of the foldable iPhone is expected to be supplied by Samsung, with Apple developing exclusive ultra-thin glass (UTG) Lens technology.

The device’s hinge will likely be designed by Apple and sourced from Taiwan-based companies, while internal parts might be obtained from Lingyi.

The foldable iPhone is expected to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with a 3D stacked cell developed by ATL.
