Banks across Pakistan will remain closed for five consecutive days due to Eidul Fitr 2025, causing a temporary halt in financial transactions. The closure includes three public holidays from Monday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 2, along with the routine weekend closure on March 29 and 30. As a result, banking services will resume on Thursday, April 3.
A notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat has announced that March 31, April 1, and April 2 have been proclaimed as public holidays for Eid ul Fitr. Since the weekend comes right before these holidays, banks will effectively be closed for five days, affecting cash withdrawals, online payments, and business operations.
When will Shawwal moon be sighted in Pakistan?
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday, March 30 to confirm the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which will officially mark the end of Ramadan 1446 AH and the beginning of Eid ul-Fitr.
The meeting, which will be conducted at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, will have religious scholars, meteorologists, and officials review moon sighting reports from all over Pakistan.
As per forecast by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the Shawwal moon would be sighted on March 30, thus the first day of Eid would be March 31.
Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) had previously predicted this through scientific models and astronomical calculations.
