Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday announced that he has invested in Perplexity AI, a rapidly growing search-and-answer engine that retrieves verified information for users in short summary form.

Established in 2022, the platform markets itself as an AI-powered tool designed to make the process of finding information online much easier.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), he announced the partnership. “Curiosity is a requirement for greatness. You win when you keep asking new questions every day. That’s why I am proud to announce my investment in Perplexity,” he wrote.

Perplexity is positioning itself as the next generation of search assistants, providing instantaneous responses based on credible platforms instead of traditional link-based results.

Ronaldo went on to say that the company's mission closely aligns with his own approach to lifelong learning.

"Perplexity is powering the world’s curiosity, and together we will inspire everyone to ask more ambitious questions," he said.

His statement instantly gained attention, raising discussions on the increasing role of AI tools within the daily lives of public figures and influencers.

The football star had earlier shared that he used Perplexity to prepare his acceptance speech at an awards function, talking about how he had logged onto the platform not knowing what to say.

His viral comments sparked a debate on the level of dependency celebrities have on AI for communication and creative advice nowadays.
