In a bid to improve bilateral air transportation cooperation, Iran's national airline, Iran Air, has announced the opening of direct flights to Pakistan.

The airline plans to launch a new weekly service between Mashhad and Lahore on October 29.

Sources claim that the initiative intends to improve connectivity between Iran and Pakistan, making it easier for pilgrims and business travellers to travel.

It is anticipated that this action will strengthen the two countries' cultural and economic ties.

After Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezhakian recently visited, the agreement was finalised with the Government of Pakistan.

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, announced last month that direct flights would begin operating between Tehran and Islamabad, which would be a major milestone in the two countries' cooperation in air travel.

According to Moghadam, "the thorough agreement reached in the field of air transport is a testament to the valued support and follow-up of stakeholders from both sides."

"We anticipate a substantial increase in travel and trade between the two countries as a result of this agreement."

In addition to facilitating business and pilgrimage travel, the opening of direct flights will foster economic cooperation and people-to-people interactions between Iran and Pakistan.

This action is anticipated to improve both nations' economies and fortify their bilateral ties.

Stakeholders have praised the announcement, seeing it as a major step in improving Iran-Pakistan cooperation and bilateral ties.

Travellers can anticipate a more convenient and effective experience when direct flights between the two countries start operating.
