In a revolutionising development to the city's transportation system, Dubai is set to introduce electric flying taxis.

Skyports CEO Duncan Walker says that the city will welcome its first fleet of electric flying taxis on March 31, 2026.

Prior to the January launch, Walker disclosed that the first vertiport at Dubai International Airport is almost finished, with the helideck completely built over three floors.

Several strategic locations in Dubai, such as Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Marina, and Dubai Mall, will serve as the operating bases for the electric flying taxis.

Furthermore, two vertiports will be visible in Ras Al Khaimah: one at the Wynn Resort on Al Marjan Island and one at Jebel Jais.

Construction in Ras Al Khaimah is expected to begin next year, with operations slated to start in 2027. The project stems from agreements between Joby, Skyports, and the RAK Transport Authority.

According to Walker, each passenger's ticket for the electric flying taxis is anticipated to cost between $200 and $300.

Walker claims that when compared to traditional taxi fares for the same routes, this pricing is reasonable.

Additionally, all helicopters will be able to access the vertiports, supporting the UAE's larger public transportation initiatives.

Moreover, Skyports is looking into expanding to other emirates. The business is in talks with Sharjah and Abu Dhabi authorities and has already inked a deal with Ajman.

Travel in the UAE will be quicker, more effective, and more ecologically friendly thanks to this cutting-edge transit system.

Electric flying taxis in Dubai are anticipated to be well-liked by both locals and visitors due to their affordable prices and quick travel times.
