As Eid ul Fitr 2025 approaches, many people in Pakistan are eager to know whether the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will issue fresh currency notes on the occassion.

In this regard, the central bank has not yet announced its plans for this year.

Previously, SBP provided millions of rupees in crisp notes for Eid, but in 2023, it did not issue them

Eidi is a cherished tradition where elders give cash gifts to children, often in new currency notes, making the occasion even more special. With no official announcement from SBP, people are curious whether they will have to depend on market sources to obtain fresh notes this year.

How to get fresh notes for Eid ul Fitr?

In previous years, SBP launched an SMS-based service for people to obtain fresh notes from specific bank branches. Citizens were required to send their 13-digit CNIC number and an e-branch code through SMS to 8877.

In return, they received a redemption code and branch details. The redemption code was available for two working days, and thus the consumers were required to visit the specified branch along with their original CNIC and its photocopy to collect the new notes.

Under this service, each individual could get three packets of Rs10 notes and one packet each of Rs50 and Rs100. It is still uncertain if SBP will restart this facility for Eid 2025.
