The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi has revealed the rates for Sadaqa-e-Fitr or Fitrana and Fidya, an obligatory charitable donation that Muslims are required to pay during the holy month of Ramadan, for 2025.
According to CII, the minimum amount for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya per person is Rs220.
However, based on different goods, the rates vary as follows:
- Rs220 — wheat
- Rs450 — barley
- Rs1,650 — dates
- Rs2,500 — raisins
- Rs5,000 — dried grapes (munakka)
Dr Naeemi said rich individuals pay their Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya according to their financial capacity, instead of depending on the minimum wheat-based amount.
According to the statement, the ransom for 30 days is outlined below:
- Rs49,500 — dates
- Rs75,000 — raisins
- Rs1,50,000 — dried grapes (munakka)
- Rs6,600 — wheat
- Rs 13,500 — barley
Moreover, one Saa (2 kg) of barley, date palm, and saffron becomes one Saa (4 kg). Dr. Naeemi further said that Muslims should pay Kaffara if they break a fast without a valid reason.
According to Islamic guidelines, Kaffarah gives two meals to 60 deserving individuals.
