Already the world's richest person, ultra-wealthy tech tycoon Elon Musk is on the verge of becoming the planet's first trillionaire.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO became the first individual to reach a net worth of $500 billion, a remarkable feat which he notched briefly, according to a recent report by Forbes magazine.

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Musk's net worth jumped to $500.1 billion, before retreating back to $499.1 billion, as tracked by Forbes' "Real-Time Billionaires" tracker.

This remarkable accomplishment puts the 54-year-old entrepreneur closer to becoming the world's first trillionaire.

Tailing Musk on the Forbes list are Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, with a net worth of $350.7 billion, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with a net worth of $245.8 billion.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and dropping out of Stanford University, he bagged his first millions by selling an online publishing software company to Compaq for over $300 million in 1999. This is said to be just the beginning of his remarkable entrepreneurial ventures, which include the founding of SpaceX in 2002 and his role as chairman of electric carmaker Tesla in 2004.

As Musk continues to push the boundaries of innovation, his chances of becoming the world's first trillionaire seem to be increasing with each passing day.
