The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has kicked off a new online e-auction system for non-customs paid vehicles, a move aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and revenue generation from the sale of confiscated and tampered vehicles bound for Pakistan.

The e-auction was showcased during a high-level meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The module is designed to ensure fairness in the bidding process and streamline the auction of vehicles seized by Pakistan customs, TechJuice noted.

Besides, the national revenue regulator has also finalised a new Customs General Order (CGO) for the disposal of these vehicles, which has been approved after thorough reviews by a sub-committee.

Dar emphasised that these measures indicate the government's commitment to technology-driven solutions for improving transparency, conserving public resources, and maximising revenue.

The development is a notable move towards digital governance in Pakistan's customs and revenue-generating operations, with the online auction module expected to set aside loopholes and encourage smoother vehicle auctions.
