Fortnite Ballistic, the fast-paced 5v5 tactical shooter mode, is getting a big update in April. Epic Games has announced that players will soon have access to new maps, weapons, and gadgets, making the mode even more exciting.

At launch, Fortnite Ballistic became more popular than the main battle royale mode for a short time. This mode, inspired by games like Counter-Strike and Valorant, allows players to use their Fortnite cosmetics in intense first-person matches.

Fortnite Ballistic mode new update

Since its early access release in December 2024, Ballistic has only had one map. However, this is about to change. Epic Games is introducing two new maps in the April update. These maps, called "shells," will have completed layouts but may lack some finishing details.

Moreover, this approach helps developers release maps faster and make improvements based on player feedback. Along with maps, new weapons and gadgets will also be added, making the mode more dynamic and strategic.

The update also brings an important change to matchmaking. Matches will no longer start with uneven teams, as players will be sent back to the lobby if teams are not full. This change addresses a major complaint from the community, ensuring fairer matches for everyone.

Epic Games has introduced several new updates in which the weapon balancing may happen quickly, while bigger changes, such as map adjustments, could take longer.
