There seems to be havoc in the realm of gaming regarding GTA 5's popularity loss in the face of the GTA 6 release, which is scheduled for next year.
In the midst of uncertainty and public debates over who will take over the other, between the currently widely popular GTA 5 and the yet-to-launch GTA 6, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy claims that the former's fame will remain intact even after the GTA 6 launch.
“So, GTA 5 will still interestingly be popular on Twitch even as everyone’s playing GTA 6 for a while, so I will find the whole GTA space very interesting as six comes out and then as it adds PC play and roleplay,” he said.
His remarks are said to be contradicting since there has been ample evidence, courtesy of industry insiders and proficient tipsters, that GTA 6's delayed launch will be worth the wait.
Rockstar Games, the developer behind the superhit game franchise, has confirmed that GTA 6 will arrive on May 26, 2026. This confirmation was followed by some of the most prominent game developers and publishers rescheduling their game launches to prevent a clash with GTA 6.
While experts keeping tabs on the GTA 6 foresee the upcoming GTA version to be a hit, Clancy is of the view that the launch of GTA 6 would not take a toll on GTA 5's popularity on the streaming platform.
Clancy made these comments in an interview with a foreign media outlet, wherein he seemed displeased with the delay in the GTA 6 release.
