Microsoft and Meta partnered to introduce the first Xbox-branded virtual reality headset, aptly titled the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition.
This special version of the Meta's well-received Quest 3S adds a sleek Xbox design and includes popular subscriptions: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Meta Horizon+, making it an exciting collaboration for fans of both gaming companies.
Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition specifications
Inside the box, buyers will find a 128GB Meta Quest 3S headset, matching Touch Plus controllers, an Xbox wireless controller, a Meta Elite Strap for comfort, a glass spacer, and a power adapter.
Moreover, they will also receive three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Meta Horizon+, which allows users to immediately experience a large library of games.
This particular version is different in appearance only, as the performance remains the same as other Meta Quest 3S headsets, to include dual LCD displays with 1832x1920 resolution per eye, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, running on a powerful Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip with 8GB RAM.
You will not be able to play full VR versions of Xbox titles, but you can stream Xbox games through cloud gaming with a specific Xbox app that's included with your headset.
This partnership represents a significant step for Microsoft, especially since it didn't appear they had much interest in VR. Xbox Cloud Gaming has already been made available via Meta Quest since 2022, but now this change pushes Xbox's ecosystem into new hardware.
