After years of disappearance from the scene, the next update of the popular God of War has ignited shockwaves in the top-notch gaming sphere, as a recent leak has hinted at a new God of War at the next PlayStation State of Play event scheduled around mid-September this year.

Detective Seeds, the renowned industry tipster behind the rumour, has claimed that PlayStation is currently compiling trailers for what is expected to be a longer-than-usual State of Play presentation.

While this rumour is yet to be validated by an official confirmation, the leaker also suggested that Santa Monica Studio, renowned for the massively successful God of War series, is likely to showcase their next project during the event on the horizon.

Santa Monica Studio has mostly focused on God of War titles, with the exception of Kinetica, its 2001 debut game.

The intensive chunk of the renowned title in the studio's portfolio has jacked up the likelihood of a new God of War game in light of the teased project.

While uncertainty is looming over whether it will be a full sequel or a spin-off, fans seem excited thanks to the ongoing buzz.

The rumour went on to add that Saros, an upcoming game from Returnal developer Housemarque, could be another highlight of the September event.

What makes this waiting period more exciting is that rumour has it that a smaller God of War game is also in development, possibly a 2.5D Metroidvania-style title.
