Nintendo Switch owners are struggling with the battery drain ahead of the latest console update, which started to begin earlier this month. This update bumped the console’s firmware version number from 18.1.0 to 19.0.0.

On October 20, a Reddit user Yukar1n reported the complaint, and in response, an exponential surge in these complaints was seen. Thousands of Switch owners encountered the issue and they started to report that their console “remains warm in sleep" following the 19.0.0 patch, indicating that the console is not properly undergoing the battery-saving mode.

Some Switch owners avoid sleep mode after recent 19.0.0 patch

Taking to Reddit, Nintendo Switch owners wrote that their console’s battery life was dreadful after the patch, as the console died only a few days after it even without being in use. While other users stated that they have been avoiding sleep mode due to the update.

However, it’s not a permanent solution if the console is unplugged or charging through a cable and even a turned-off Switch will ultimately enter sleep mode.

Nintendo Switch owners started facing sleep issues before 19.0.0 update

Several users replied to Yukar1n's complaint that they have already started experiencing these issues and their consoles are being warm after switching it to sleep more before the 19.0.0 patch. It indicated that these particular cases might have a different reason.

However, Nintendo has not addressed the issue yet and even it has not shared any official changelog for the recent 19.0.0 patch.
