The realm of top-notch handheld consoles, until a few weeks back, was apparently witnessing a fierce battle of excellence among various contenders and then dropped Nintendo's much-awaited Switch 2, which has reportedly sold over 3.5 million units within the first four days of its launch.
With the overwhelming number of sales surpassing that of the original Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2 is now the new fastest-selling gaming device of Nintendo to date.
The company predicted last month that Switch 2 sales would reach 15 million by the end of the current financial year in March.
In favour of Nintendo's massive sales projection, Doug Bowser, the president and chief operating officer of Nintendo America, stated: "Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go."
Since the first Switch console's debut in 2017, Nintendo has sold 152 million Switch devices, becoming a gaming phenomenon with the inclusion of popular titles such as "The Legend of Zelda" and the pandemic breakout hit "Animal Crossing: New Horizons."
The recently launched Nintendo Switch upgrade, available since June 5, is reportedly equipped with nearly the same string of features as its predecessor, except a larger screen and crispier graphics.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has also been sold with popular games, including "Mario Kart World."
The fast-paced sales figures indicate the ongoing demand for Nintendo's innovative gaming consoles and the hype amassing around the latest entrant to the Switch family.
