Although Nintendo Switch 2 has proven to be the company's fastest-selling console ever, the top-notch gaming circle is apparently witnessing bids to draw its comparison with the Xbox Series S.
The biggest cue to Switch 2's greatness lies in its sale of over 3.5 million units within a week of its groundbreaking debut, sending shockwaves in the realm of handheld gaming consoles by featuring a bigger screen, enhanced social capabilities, redesigned Joy-Con controllers, and improved performance compared to its predecessor, all of which brings it closer to the computing power of the Xbox Series S.
This was suggested by Developer Koei Tecmo.
Reflecting on the capabilities of the newly launched Switch 2 in an interview with wccftech, Takuto Edagawa, producer of Koei Tecmo's upcoming RPG Wild Hearts S, was of the that although it is challenging to comment on the latest Nintendo Switch model's computing power, it can be viewed as closer to the Series S in terms of performance.
Although the Series S is the lower-end model of the current-generation Xbox consoles, it is said to have outperformed the older PS4 by a great margin.
While insights into Switch 2's graphical capabilities have not been provided by Nintendo, it runs smoothly graphically demanding triple-A titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy.
What's noteworthy is that the Switch 2 is powered by a custom Nvidia processor equipped with a dedicated GPU with RT Cores and Tensor Cores, supporting Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology and ray tracing.
Regarding the GPU inside Switch 2, Nvidia claimed that it will deliver “next-level visuals” and “smoother gameplay.”
