Final Fantasy seems all set to establish itself as a potent player as the gaming sphere is brimming with sequels to countless classic and new hits, as the Final Fantasy 16 producer has hinted at the game's release on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

Initially launched on the PS5 in 2023, Final Fantasy 16 was made available on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2024, not to mention the game's well-received debut on Xbox consoles during the June 8 Xbox Games Showcase.

Speaking to a foreign media outlet regarding Final Fantasy 16's exclusivity to the Nintendo Switch 2, producer Naoki Yoshida was of the view that Nintendo is the only major gaming platform yet to receive the title.

“All that’s left is Nintendo,” he stated. Co-director Kazutoyo Maehiro added, “I want to do my best. I want to conquer it.”

It's noteworthy that the Nintendo Switch 2 features backwards compatibility, which lets gamers enjoy previous Final Fantasy titles released on the original Switch.

While fans hold his remarks dearly, there's a catch: most of the third-party titles struggled on the Switch 2 compared to first-party games like Mario Kart.

According to industry analysts, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition has emerged as the most popular third-party game on the Switch 2 console, the likes of which could be replicated by Final Fantasy 16, given its demanding graphics.
