Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series may bring a major hardware upgrade, with reports suggesting a bigger battery capacity. Many Chinese smartphones now offer 6000mAh to 6500mAh batteries, and the company seem ready to compete.

Reportedly, the company is switching to Si/C Li-ion battery technology, which can store more charge without increasing size or weight.

Samsung Galaxy S26 may feature a bigger battery

The new battery type rumoured to be integrated has already been used by Chinese brands, making phones thinner and longer-lasting. Samsung might have introduced it in the Galaxy S25 Edge, but the S26 lineup could fully embrace it.

Several rumours suggested the Galaxy S26 Ultra battery may reach 7000mAh, setting a new standard for flagship smartphones.

However, since Si/C batteries degrade faster, Samsung is also developing its battery technology to ensure a long lifespan and match its 7-year software support.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 release date is still not confirmed, but the company seem focused on hardware improvements. Critics noted the lack of substantial updates in the Galaxy S25 lineup, so a larger battery might address some concerns. If Samsung successfully enhances battery capacity without sacrificing durability, the Galaxy S26 series could be a major leap forward.
