Google has introduced a new Gemini app feature for Advanced subscribers that can recall and reference users’ past conversations to provide more relevant responses.
With this update, users will no longer need to recap previous chats or search for a specific thread to continue a conversation.
The feature builds upon Google's earlier rollout of Gemini's ability to "remember" user preferences.
The feature resembles those found in other AI chatbots, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and a similar memory feature introduced recently by Facebook's parent company Meta.
The feature enables Google Gemini to draw upon context from previous discussions, allowing for more seamless and personalised interactions.
In addition to getting personalised responses, users can also ask Gemini to summarise previous conversations and build upon existing projects.
To maintain privacy, they can review, delete, and manage Gemini chat history at any time by selecting the profile picture in the top right corner of the app and selecting “Gemini Apps Activity.”
Currently, the feature is exclusively available to Gemini Advanced subscribers via Google One AI Premium in English on both Gemini's web and mobile app versions.
Google also plans to expand the feature to additional languages and for Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers.
