The Hyderabad police have implemented a faceless e-tracking system for traffic infractions on the freshly expanded and commercial Autobahn road. In an effort to increase traffic safety and discipline, the system will impose heavy challans for infractions.
All of the city's major highways would have the system installed by April 2026, according to Hyderabad DIG Tariq Razzak Dharejo. "Hyderabad is a big city where a lot of traffic violations occur frequently; this is why we have adopted a phased approach," added Razzak.
The system ensures the automatic production and issuing of traffic penalties by utilising AI technology and connecting to a central platform in Karachi. The Autobahn and the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas route have more than 60 cameras mounted to keep an eye on traffic.
Fines for traffic violations in Hyderabad
Initially, there will be fines for eighteen different types of infractions, such as improper parking of motorcycles (Rs2,000), heavy transport vehicles breaking one-way laws (Rs100,000), and driving without a license (Rs50,000 for automobiles and jeeps, Rs25,000 for motorcycles).
A committee has been established to help citizens who have received inaccurate penalties or ticketing system mistakes.
Through this effort, the Hyderabad police hope to lower traffic infractions and increase road safety. An important step in updating the city's traffic control is the faceless e-tracking system.
