
The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has announced an exciting new project to boost tourism in Islamabad. The initiative aims to provide tourists with a unique way to explore the city’s landmarks and attractions.
PTDC managing director Aftab ur Rehman Rana shared details about the Islamabad Sightseeing Double-Decker Bus Service during a briefing with key tourism industry stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Manager Naveed Anjum, Tourist Information Centres (TICs) Manager Mukhtar Ali and PTDC Manager of Policy and Planning (P&P) alongside the presence of representatives from Islamabad’s leading hotels.
Islamabad Sightseeing Double-Decker Bus Service launch and features details
The new bus service is set to launch in January 2025 as a joint venture between PTDC and TDCP. This initiative aims to promote tourism in the federal capital by offering visitors a unique way to explore Islamabad’s landmarks and tourist attractions.
The bus service will include guided tours operating twice a day, with convenient pick-and-drop services available at major hotels in the city.
During his presentation, Rana emphasised the government’s strong commitment to developing tourism as a key driver of economic growth. He described the project as a significant step forward, offering tourists a modern and eco-friendly way to experience Islamabad.
In addition to the city tours, the second phase of the programme will introduce weekend sightseeing trips to nearby historical and cultural sites. Destinations such as Taxila, Rohtas Fort, Katas Raj, Kallar Kahar, Khewra Salt Mines, Takht-e-Bahi, Murree, Patriata, and Peshawar will be included in these tours. PTDC plans to collaborate with the private sector for this phase to expand the scope of tourism in the region.
