A strategy to lessen air pollution and traffic congestion in Lahore has been put forward by the Lahore Chief Traffic Officer, Dr Athar Waheed.

Around 800,000 to 1 million vehicles enter Lahore every day, while 400,000 to 500,000 vehicles depart, contributing to traffic, accidents, and smog, according to Waheed.

In order to solve this problem, Waheed proposes using metro trains and electric buses to connect neighbouring cities to Lahore.

There will be two stages to the implementation of the plan. Electric bus service between Lahore and Kasur, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura will begin first. An intercity train network will then connect these cities.

According to Waheed, the programme will lower travel expenses and save citizens' time. The proposal seeks to address Lahore's traffic issues and advance environmentally friendly transportation.

For prompt implementation, the proposal has been forwarded to the Commissioner of Lahore.

The project will lessen pollution and enhance Lahore's transport infrastructure if it is approved.

Lahore can become a more liveable city with improved transit options by implementing electric buses and metro trains.
