Latest petrol price in Pakistan from January 1

Finance Division statement does not indicate any changes to prices of light diesel oil or kerosene oil

The government of Pakistan announced a hike of Rs0.56 per litre in petrol prices on Tuesday, bringing the new rate to Rs252.66 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) was also increased by Rs2.96 per litre to settle at Rs258.34. The statement did not indicate any changes to the prices of light diesel oil or kerosene oil.

It should be noted that the new prices of all petroleum products are effective from January 1. 

In the previous fortnightly review, the petrol price was kept unchanged at Rs252.10 per litre.

"The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices of petroleum products in view of the fluctuations in the international market in the last fortnight," read the notification issued by the Finance Division.

The prices of petroleum products are revised every 15 days in Pakistan, adjusting them to the trend of global oil prices and the rupee’s exchange rate to the dollar. The Pakistani rupee has held steady recently.
