The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday announced a reduction in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, effective October.
A press release from the OGRA mentioned that the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has been cut by Rs79.14, bringing the cost down from Rs2,527 to Rs2,448.
According to the OGRA, the per-kilogram LPG price has been slashed by Rs6.71, dropping from Rs214.19 to Rs207.48 per kg.
It is worth noting that this is the second consecutive month of relief for consumers as LPG prices continue to ease, lowering the burden on households.
The reduction aligns with global trends in oil prices and aims to reduce the financial burden on consumers.
Meanwhile, the federal government on Tuesday hiked the price of petrol by Rs4.07 per litre and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.04 for the next fortnight.
Following an increase of over Rs4 per litre, petrol will now cost Rs268.68 per litre, up from Rs264.31. The latest price of HSD is Rs276.18 from Rs272.77 per litre, read the notification.
The hike in the cost of petrol and high-speed diesel directly impacts the prices of commute fares, vegetables and other essential food items.
