Oman has agreed to open work visas for 11 categories of Pakistani professionals, according to Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, His Excellency Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari.

Ambassador Bokhari spoke about this good news to The Arabian Stories and said that this development is a very positive movement towards getting rid of the visa restrictions for Pakistanis.

"The government of Oman has agreed to our appeal to open visas for eleven categories of professionals, which covers almost all the major professions," he said.

The part of the announcement where the professional categories were shared were not specified; however, this is viewed in a positive light for skilled workers looking to work in Oman.

Notably, the ambassador stated that our goal is to remove all visa restrictions for Pakistani nationals. I mean, he believes that this process will take weeks or months.

In addition to professionals, facilitating businessmen’s visas to have them look for the investment opportunities and explore the trade market in Oman has been pushed by the Pakistani mission based in Muscat. "We are on the right track," Bokhari said with a belief of more movement from now.

Bokhari also revealed that visas for semi-skilled and unskilled workers are likely to be opened in the near future, which would benefit thousands of Pakistanis seeking work abroad. Oman is already a popular Gulf destination for Pakistani expatriates, known for its stable economy, safe environment, and growing demand for foreign talent.
