Pakistan’s space agency, the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), has officially opened submissions for scientists, researchers, and students to propose experiments for the country’s first human space mission.

This mission will send the first Pakistani astronaut to China’s space station by the end of 2026.

Public invited to send space experiment proposals

As part of this mission, SUPARCO is inviting proposals for small and significant experiments that can be conducted onboard the Chinese Space Station (CSS).

For the first time ever, the Pakistani people are being given an opportunity to be part of a real space mission.

The CSS revolves around Earth at an altitude of 380 kilometres and makes one complete revolution in 92 minutes. SUPARCO invites ideas that are inexpensive, cost-effective, and appropriate for the space station environment, such as zero gravity, extreme temperatures, and vacuum conditions.

Moreover, the agency has invited proposals in areas including agriculture, health, medicine, biotechnology, astrophysics, fluid dynamics, and material sciences. The experiments should also assist the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This opportunity is available to universities, research centres, and even students and scientists. The CSS's facilities and tools will conduct the winning experiments.

As per SUPARCO, the outcome of these experiments could result in patents, new products, and fame in international scientific journals.

The deadline to submit proposals is April 30, 2025.
