The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced that it will purchase drones for the delivery of relief goods in natural disasters on the instructions of the KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.

As per the KP chief minister’s spokesperson, drones will now be used in flood and other emergency situations, and these drones will have the capability to carry several hundred kilograms of weight.

In the initial phase, 10 large and 20 small modern drones will be purchased. Meanwhile, 4 large drones will be purchased immediately and used for the delivery of life jackets, ropes and other relief goods.

20 small drones will be used for monitoring and identifying various operations. Moreover, 2,000 life jackets have also been provided to Rescue 1122. All necessary equipment will be provided for use in relief activities.

It is worth noting that modern drones will significantly enhance the efficiency of rescue agencies, says CM spokesperson: “Using modern technology for quick response in emergencies is the government's top priority.”

KP govt noted that tourist hotels across the province will be required to keep essential safety equipment, including boats, ropes, and life jackets, readily available.

According to the KP relief department, the purpose of acquiring equipment is to enable timely action in any emergency.
