Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Wednesday its plan to expand its network to Europe and the United Kingdom (UK).
This move comes following the recent lifting of a ban on the national flag carrier imposed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The PIA spokesperson stated that as part of its network expansion plan and the potential resumption of flights to the EU and the UK, PIA plans to reintroduce its aircraft that have been in storage for an extended period.
According to the management, PIA will increase the operational fleet of Boeing 777 to eight. Moreover, the national airline has planned to increase the number of A-320 aircraft to 12, while the ATR fleet will be expanded to two jets.
"This fleet requirement is in line with the aggressive operational plan that PIA has set for itself for the year 2025," the PIA official noted.
He also outlined PIA’s efforts to ensure viability on high-demand routes and provide convenience to the large Pakistani community residing abroad.
The PIA spokesperson also highlighted its schedule reliability and on-time performance, which currently exceeds 90%, the highest in the country.
