Realme on Wednesday announced that it was being integrated into Chinese consumer electronics company, Oppo, as a subbrand with an aim at pooling resources and cut costs for both companies
Chinese smartphone maker is available in different countries, which include India, Pakistan, America, Southeast Asia and Europe, owned by Chinese consumer hardware giant BBK Electronics, which also owns the Oppo and Vivo smartphone brands.
Realme was launched as an Oppo sub-brand in 2018, targeting younger consumers with affordable, feature-packed devices.
The company gained traction in markets such as India, Southeast Asia, and Europe, positioning itself as a competitor company to compete with rivals in the smartphone industry.
Realme separated itself from Oppo into an independent brand to pursue aggressive expansion strategies. Oppo, meanwhile, has focused on premium and mid-range offerings, with both companies sharing resources from their parent firm BBK Electronics, which also owns Vivo.
This shared lineage has often led to synergies in supply chains and technology, but recent market pressures have prompted a reevaluation of their structures.
