The era is witnessing a boom in AI in every respect as all the major players in the technology landscape are developing, adopting and integrating this generative technology into their tools.

Following in the footsteps of popular social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and more which have infused AI inside their products, Reddit too appears to be on the verge of incorporating AI.

While briefing investors during Reddit's earnings call held earlier this week, Reddit co-founder and CEO Steve Huffman said the company aims to bring AI-driven search results pages to “summarise and recommend content.”

He was of the view that AI-backed summaries and recommendations would pave the way for Redditors to "dive deeper" into content and get their hands on unexplored communities on the platform.

Elaborating how this feat will be brought about, Huffman said Reddit will combine first-party and third-party technology to power the feature, which the company will begin later this year.

Frequent Redditors and keen-eyed experts who keep extensive tabs on Reddit have long predicted such a feature as the social media forum joined hands with OpenAI to utilise the GPT maker's large language models (LLMs) and develop AI-powered features for Redditors and mods.

As part of the agreement, OpenAI was granted permission to use the social network's huge database.
