Sindh government has announced plans to give an additional 500,000 solar systems to low-income households in 2025, providing them relief from heavy electricity bills.
Speaking in Sukkur, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the government had initially planned to distribute 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), with 50,000 units already delivered and the remaining set for distribution soon.
This initiative, led by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, aims to provide an additional 500,000 solar systems to underserved families later this year, improving renewable energy access for the economically disadvantaged.
Waste-to-energy project
Additionally, the chief minister highlighted a waste-to-energy project in Karachi, where authorities are currently gathering 15,000 tons of waste daily with plans to convert it into 50 megawatts of electricity.
“This initiative will not only help manage urban waste but also contribute to Sindh’s renewable energy goals,” the Sindh CM stated.
