In a major move indicating a massive facility for Pakistan's freelancing community, Vopy, a portfolio company of Swedish investment firm Front Ventures, has received a verbal order from a renowned digital bank in Pakistan to launch a freelance payment service.

Vopy's payment service is likely to streamline payments for freelancers, particularly in the IT sector, who work with companies in Europe and the UK.

The Swedish firm is eager to launch its service at the earliest across Pakistan, Business Recorder stated, citing a press statement from Vopy.

Sven Hattenhauer, CEO of Vopy AB, noted that the digital bank has requested exclusive rights to the service, which will enhance Vopy’s remuneration. A cooperation agreement for the freelance payments is expected to be signed soon, allowing for a swift start to the service.

The total volume of freelance payments to Pakistan is estimated at around $4 billion annually. Vopy's solution will provide each freelancer with a personal European virtual IBAN account, enabling simpler and faster payments.

This arrangement allows European clients to avoid the complexities of direct money transfers to Pakistan, as they can pay into the provided European IBAN account.

Once the funds are received in the virtual account, freelancers will be able to access their payments in local Pakistani accounts within seconds.
