Uzbekistan Airlines commenced its direct flight service from Islamabad to Tashkent on Friday, an important milestone for aviation in Pakistan-Central Asia.
The first flight, HY466, left from Islamabad International Airport at 1:09pm and had 126 passengers. The launch event was hosted by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and turned into a celebration of the developing air links between the countries.
The launch ceremony had diplomats like the ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Senior officials from the PAA, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation and Uzbekistan Airlines also attended.
Balloons were on display to brighten up the check-in area in Zone 1. Passengers and guests were welcomed by staff at Stand 3 and later at a cake-cutting ceremony in the upper lounge (A5), creating a great celebratory atmosphere to mark the occasion.
The operation for this launch was seamlessly managed by the teams at Islamabad International Airport under the PAA. They were completely committed to providing travellers with a world-class air travel experience from Pakistan.
Moreover, the officials said that this new route would not only assist the tourism market but also facilitate more people-to-people interactions, as well as business relations between Pakistan and Central Asian countries.
