
In view of rumours circulating on the internet hinting at the possibility of a pubic holiday tomorrow on September 9, the Sindh Education Department has confirmed that there will be no public holiday tomorrow.
The clarification has put an end to the spate of false rumours spreading on social media.
Will schools, colleges remain closed in Karachi tomorrow?
Citing a department spokesperson familiar with the matter, Geo.TV noted that a notification about college closures was "fabricated and lacked authenticity," adding that all educational institutions across Sindh will remain open as usual.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that a powerful monsoon system will affect Karachi, with strong winds of 60 to 70 kilometres per hour expected.
The development comes in the wake of popular areas in Karachi, such as I I Chundrigar Road, Shahrea Faisal, and Gulistan-e-Johar, registering intense rain on Monday, whereas Gulshan-e-Hadeed and the M9 Motorway experiencing moderate showers.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has urged residents to exercise caution as rainfall continues. He advised not to travel unnecessarily, while encouraging citizens to check road conditions before heading out.
