Meta-owned instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, is creating a new feature to allow users to choose an AI-generated image as their profile picture.
WABetaInfo first reported about the news feature of WhatsApp which is included in the latest Android version v2.24.11.17. Moreover, it gives an advantage to users who don’t want to use their image as a profile picture.
According to the report, the feature is likely to become visible when the users click the edit option in the profile picture settings. WhatsApp might provide a separate tab for an Avatar.

The AI-powered profile picture generator develops personalised pictures according to the prompts provided by the users. However, the particular Large Language Model (LLM) utilised for the AI-powered feature is still not unveiled, WABetaInfo reported that it might be the same variant used for the recently launched Meta AI search bar.
The new feature is currently being created, while no official announcement about releasing date is present.
