Alan Wake 2, one of the most visually stunning survival horror games, has received its first major PC update of 2025. This update, developed in collaboration with Nvidia, brings powerful new features to enhance graphics and performance, especially for users of the new RTX 50 Series graphics cards. Players with older RTX cards will also benefit from upgraded features.

Launched in October 2023, Alan Wake 2 quickly became known for its incredible graphics, immersive storytelling, and intense survival horror experience.

The game uses advanced visual technologies like ray tracing, DLSS upscaling, and path tracing to create realistic lighting and shadow effects. With the release of the Nvidia RTX 50 Series, Remedy Entertainment has now introduced a new update to push the game’s visuals even further.

What's new in Alan Wake 2 PC update?

The January 2025 update for Alan Wake 2 introduces DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation. This technology allows players to use RTX 50 Series graphics cards to enhance their gameplay to over 230 frames per second (FPS) at 4K resolution.

For those using older Nvidia RTX graphics cards, the update also provides enhancements, including:

  • Improved DLSS Super Resolution for sharper visuals.
  • DLSS Ray Reconstruction for better lighting effects.
  • DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) for smoother graphics.

One of the biggest additions is Nvidia’s RTX Mega Geometry technology, which significantly improves ray-tracing performance by fitting up to 100 times more ray-traced triangles. This enhancement makes scenes look more detailed and realistic.

New Ultra Ray Tracing mode

Alongside DLSS 4, Remedy has introduced an Ultra Ray Tracing preset. This mode brings:

  • Fully ray-traced reflections for more lifelike surfaces.
  • Transparent ray-traced reflections for added realism.
  • Higher-quality ray-traced indirect lighting for a more immersive experience.

These improvements make Alan Wake 2 one of the most technically advanced PC games available, offering stunning visual fidelity.

How to get Alan Wake 2 PC update?

The new Alan Wake 2 PC update is available for download via the Epic Games Store. However, players hoping for a Steam release may be disappointed, as Alan Wake 2 remains an Epic Games Store exclusive.
