The WordPress innovation was showcased by Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg at WordCamp US 2025.

During his presentation, Mullenweg demonstrated how a developer created a small marketing animation from a text prompt and seamlessly installed it on a test site.

Benefits of WordPress Telex in web development
One of the most notable characteristics of WordPress Telex is that it has been labelled as experimental, while operating at telex.automattic.ai. Users can explain their ideas in a prompt and have Telex generate a code for installation or editing.
Telex has been claimed to streamline routine tasks and help creators test their prototypes without needing extensive coding skills.
Automattic also introduced a browser-based help assistant developed during Contributor Day and explained its integrations with browser AI tools.
While Telex stands as a great addition to the ever-evolving web development space, Mullenweg highlighted that it does not replace standard development workflows or discard the need for quality checks.
