Amazon Prime Video has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI-powered) “X-Ray Recaps” feature that generates personalised recaps for viewers helping them to catch up on their favourite shows.
It uses custom AI models to analyse Prime Video's video, subtitle, and dialogue data, producing accurate and spoiler-free descriptions of essential story elements.

The tech giant highlighted that the X-Ray Recaps are designed to help people catch up if they have missed anything important in a show, or wish to continue a show after a long gap.
X-ray recaps are an alternative to online summaries or rewinding, allowing users to review key events without revealing crucial plot points.

Prime Video vice president Adam Gray explained that these X-Ray Recaps are “context-aware” to the time and position in the video.
"It can deliver summaries of memorable moments and important plot points so our customers can quickly jump back into what they were watching or rediscover why they fell in love with a series in the first place,” Gray added.
Currently, X-Ray Recaps are available exclusively on Amazon MGM Studios Original series, including renowned shows like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Daisy Jones and the Six, The Boys, and The Wheel of Time.
X-Ray Recaps feature availability
X-Ray Recaps are available to all Prime Video users in the US. However, according to the company, it will be widely available by the end of the year. Users can go to the Prime Video detail page for the show or open the X-Ray experience during playback.
