Anthropic has officially launched Claude for healthcare, a set of HIPAA-ready AI tools for providers, payers and patients. It can be used for prior authorisations and patient care coordination, and can help with regulatory submissions.
The company, in a blog post, stated that the offering includes 'Connector', which let the AI connect to the Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Coverage Database to help with revenue cycle and compliance and to let patient-facing teams work with Medicare policy.
"Claude can look up both diagnosis and procedure codes to support medical coding, billing accuracy, and claims management. This data is provided by the CMS and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"The National Provider Identifier Registry, which allows Claude to help with provider verification, credentialing, networking directory management, and claims validation," added Anthropic.
Users can also connect to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision (ICD-10), to support medical coding, billing, and claims management.
With these new tools, "Claude can provide meaningful support for healthcare startups building new products, and for large enterprises looking to integrate AI more deeply into their operations, for instance, Claude can:
- Speed up reviews of prior authorization requests.
- Support claims appeals.
- Coordinate care and triage patient messages.
- Support healthcare startups developing new ideas.
Claude Pro and Max plan subscribers in the United States (US) can select their personal health records to Claude to summarise records and explain results; however, Anthropic said there are explicit privacy controls and data will be used for model training.
