As part of its ambitions to revamp its flagship artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, Apple has been tipped to be developing its own AI "answer engine," according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The tech giant has reportedly formed a new team called "Answers, Knowledge, and Information," responsible for creating a ChatGPT-like app.
This “answer engine” aims to provide responses to user queries by sourcing information from across the web. It may function as a standalone application or enhance search capabilities within Siri, Safari, and other Apple products.
Gurman also highlighted that Apple is actively recruiting for this team, luring candidates with expertise in search algorithms and engine development.
Although Apple has already integrated ChatGPT into Siri, its plans for a more personalised, AI-driven update to the voice assistant have met delays.
Besides this, Apple may also need to reconsider its search agreement with Google following the latter's recent antitrust defeat.
As the competition in the AI space intensifies, Apple’s efforts to develop its own answer engine could signify a significant shift in how the company approaches AI and user interaction across its ecosystem.
The upcoming ChatGPT-like app reflects Apple’s commitment to enhancing its services while being in line with the evolving landscape of AI technology.
